Homeworks of America
Homeworks of America is an organization that was started a few decades ago by a Catholic man who was challenged by his teenage daughter to do something about the inhumane living conditions she witnessed for some people in the low country — people whose homes had become dilapidated because they were too poor to fix/maintain them. Since then, this youth-based ministry has grown and spread to several states, improving the living conditions and lives of countless people.

Last year Homeworks was not able to serve any residents because of the pandemic. However, a group was put together to help fill in some of that gap by performing repairs to the exterior of homes. A good number of you were involved in that endeavor. This summer, Homeworks is back in business and is in serious need of adult volunteers to assist in working with the youth who will be doing home repairs.

If you can give one day – or five days – out of your time to assist in working with these youths, it would go a long way to helping meet the backlog of work that needs to be done. You don’t have to have any special building or repair skills, just a willingness to work with the youths. However, if you do have any skills — even basic skills in doing home repairs — you’re really needed.

This years event will run from June 14th through the 18th. You can learn more about Homeworks on its website: https://homeworksofamerica.org/
