Swim Team Honors Seniors; Also Cross Country, Volleyball, Tennis
The SJCS swim teams swept four opponents -- Fountain Inn, Powdersville, Southside Christian and the Greenville Hurricanes -- on Senior Night Tuesday at Spaulding Farm Pool.
Following the meet, the Knights recognized the following seniors for their contributions to the program: Elizabeth Armaly, Owen Byrd, Rosey Carpenter, Aurora Clements, Evan Harman, Collin Massey, Jacob Sawyer, David Schofield, Sam Thompson and Eliza Wireman.
During the five-team meet, Byrd (100 butterfly, 100 backstroke) and Bella Stewart (50 freestyle, 100 backstroke) each won two events.
Six other Knights won individual events: Riley Reed (200 free), Jacob Exposito (200 free), Odette Brown (200 IM), Jack Weston (200 IM), Addie Wireman (100 free) and Paul Do (400 free).

Cross Country
The SJCS Middle School girls cross country team finished first out of eight teams in the SCA Invitational hosted by Spartanburg Christian at the Milliken Arboretum on Tuesday.
The Knights had three of the first five finishers (out of 119 runners) and five of the top 18: Eva Cifuni was runner-up, Sienna Driscoll third, Corinne Okuley fifth, Liza May Perry 13th and Olivia Locklar 18th.
The boys came in eighth out of 11 teams. Nicholas Giraldo (30th out of 131) was the top finisher for the Knights.

Girls Tennis
The Varsity girls tennis team lost at Christ Church on Tuesday, 7-0.
The highlight for the Knights was the performance of eighth-grader Sara Gutierrez, who lost a tough match after falling short in a first-set tiebreaker, 7-6.
"She battled hard in the second set, but I think the first set took a toll on her," SJCS Coach Tricia Brown said. "She showed some amazing tenacity, and I was impressed with her shot selection. Sara really showed us that the sky is the limit for her."
The Knights (6-4, 2-2) will play at Travelers Rest at 5:00 PM Wednesday.
- The JV Knights hosted Christ Church on Tuesday, but the teams were unable to complete the match because of lightning.
Volleyball
The Varsity volleyball team defeated rival Christ Church 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-14) on the road Tuesday night.
Ava Catherine Elder had 17 kills, and Emily Clark had seven kills and eight digs for the Knights (12-12, 5-1). Tiffany Helmer had 19 digs, and Emi Reese Hand and Alicia Hanley each had 16 assists.
