National Eucharistic Congress Inspires SJCS Teacher Coach K

SJCS 6th and 8th Grade Theology teacher Frank Kucinic embarked on a journey of spiritual enrichment and professional development at the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis July 16-20.

This historic event, drawing nearly 55,000 attendees to Lucas Oil Stadium and the convention center, served as a beacon of light for Coach K, who found himself deeply moved by the profound sense of community and faith that permeated the gathering.

The Congress, the first of its kind in 83 years, centered around the Eucharist and the theme "Fulfilling the Call to Be a Disciple." For Coach K, this theme resonated strongly, emphasizing the ongoing process of conversion, renewal and openness to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Reflecting on his experience, Coach K said, "It was incredibly inspiring to witness so many people all over the country and even internationally coming together in such a powerful display of faith and devotion."

Throughout the week, Coach K participated in sessions that explored innovative approaches to accompaniment, evangelization and catechesis centered around the Eucharist. These discussions challenged him to consider new ways of engaging his students and fostering their spiritual growth within the framework of his classroom instruction.

"The sessions not only enriched my own understanding but also provided practical insights that I'm eager to share with my students," he said. "The Congress has given me a renewed sense of purpose and dedication to my role as an educator."

The significance of the Congress, which had not been held on this scale since 1941, was not lost on Coach K.

"To be part of an event with such historical significance is humbling," he said. "It underscores the enduring importance of faith and the Eucharist  in our lives and communities."

As Coach K returns to his teaching responsibilities, he plans to integrate the lessons learned at the Congress into his curriculum where he can ensure that the spirit of renewal and discipleship continues to resonate within his classroom and beyond.

For Coach K, the National Eucharistic Congress was more than a professional endeavor. It was a transformative journey that reaffirmed his commitment to fostering spiritual growth and community within St. Joe’s and beyond.
