Coat Drive Aids Catholic Ministries, St. Anthony's

Coat Drive Aids Catholic Ministries, St. Anthony's

This year’s 7th Annual Coat Drive was a tremendous success. Mrs. Charlton provided the following recap:

"We went in an entirely new direction this Christmas by intentionally streamlining all of our resources to Catholic ministries. First, every student at St. Anthony’s Catholic School was given a new winter coat. Second, we made a large donation of winter weather wear to Catholic Charities of the Upstate! Click HERE for a precious video of the St. Anthony’s students saying 'thank you' while wearing their coats.

"A very special thank you goes out to Nurse Katy, who single-handedly collected, sorted and organized hundreds of coats. She literally spent an entire year working on this project. Another huge thank you goes out to David Keefe, Nolan Keefe and Bobby Wood. As usual, these guys went above and beyond in many ways but especially by carrying heavy bags of coats out to cars and disposing of leftover boxes!"

A total of 121 students from 3K through 5th grade received new coats. Pictured are the coats arranged by size and gender and, from left to right, Dr. Mami Boyd (Principal), Father Emerson Rodriquez (St. Anthony’s Priest) and Nakisha McKinney (School Administrator).

Pictured below is Sylvia, a parishioner at St. Anthony’s and volunteer at Catholic Charities.

"She was thrilled to receive our large donation! Over 100 items were provided, including new coats in multiple sizes (with over 25 adult coats!), hats, coats, gloves, scarves, blankets and children’s clothing!

"Witnessing in person the needs of the recipients at this ministry highlighted the importance of our school continuing to support this initiative. Many unhoused individuals receive food and clothing from Catholic Charities. Please consider this ministry when your club, Household or family is looking for a place to volunteer or support! They are doing some great things and they could really use our help!"

**As a side note, any Household Dean who is looking for a St. Joseph the Worker Day project, please see Mrs. Charlton and Nurse Katy. They have a great idea for helping Catholic Charities of the Upstate!
