Varsity Volleyball Sweeps Christ Church; MS Team Falls to Cavs

The SJCS Varsity volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 (25-10, 25-8, 25-9) victory over host Christ Church on Thursday night.

Lillie Hecker had 18 kills and Grace Dumont had four kills, nine digs and 14 assists for the Knights, who improved to 10-5-1 overall and 2-0 in Region 1-A.

Emily Clark had four digs and three aces, Tiffany Helmer had five digs, Mendolia Anderson had five aces and Sophia Duque had four aces.

The Knights rebounded from Tuesday night's 3-0 (25-4, 25-14, 25-18) loss on the road against Class 5A power Dorman, which has won three state championships in the last seven years (the most recent in 2021) and 14 in all.

Hecker had nine kills and 13 digs against Dorman, and Dumont had 18 assists, 10 digs and three aces. Helmer had nine digs, and Anderson had five kills.

The Knights will play a non-region match at home at 6:15 PM Monday (JV at 5:00) against Cardinal Newman and then will host region rival Southside Christian at 7:00 (JV at 5:30) on Tuesday.

**The Middle School volleyball team played host to Christ Church on Thursday, losing 2-0 (25-10, 25-16).

Girls Tennis

The SJCS Varsity girls tennis team defeated host Wren 5-2 on Thursday.

The Knights, who bounced back from Tuesday's loss at Christ Church, improved to 7-2. They will host Southside Christian at 6:00 PM Tuesday.
