SJCS Swimmers Sweep CCES, SCS; Girls Golf Falls Just Short

The SJCS swim team swept Christ Church and Southside Christian during a quadrangular meet at Greenville Country Club Monday night.

Both teams lost to Eastside, whose boys have won seven consecutive Class 4A state championships (and eight in all, the first in 3A) and whose girls have won six straight titles.

The boys' 400-meter relay team (Owen Byrd, Evan Harman, Connor Farrell, Aidan Flaherty) recorded the only first-place finish for the Knights. They had three individual runners-up: Farrell in the 100 backstroke, Walker Simpson in the 200 freestyle and Jack Weston in the 100 butterfly.

Girls Golf

The SJCS girls golf team lost to Dorman's JV by the slim margin of 8 strokes (211-219) at The Preserve at Verdae on Thursday, September 7.

Greycen Baker had the low round of the day with 46. Other leading scorers for the Knights were Julia Conroy, Meghan Noonan and Gabby Bucci.

"This means that every player that has competed on our team this year has been in the top four players whose scores count for the team," Coach Brenda Rutledge said. "Golf is both an individual sport and we compete as a team. Our players are continuing to improve and be more confident as a team, and I am super proud of every one of them."

The Knights' next match will be Tuesday, September 19 at 4:30 PM when they take on Eastside at Greer Golf Club.
