SJCS Group Enjoys Amazing Experiences on Trip to Japan
Twenty-four members of the SJCS community -- students, parents and alumni -- traveled to Japan June 23 through July 2, and the trip was amazing!
The group visited temples, shrines, modern buildings, palaces, castles and gardens in Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima and Miyajima that reflected some of the best Japan has to offer. A rainy day in Hiroshima caused many to reflect at the Atomic Peace Memorial and Museum, and free time in Miyajima allowed people to finish their shopping.
Everyone tried a variety of foods, and on the last night, they all learned to cook "okonomiyaki," a type of savory Japanese pancake. No missed flights, no lost luggage and amazing experiences!
They even caught up with SJCS graduate Emiko Kakimoto ('10) in Tokyo, where three more current alumni -- Miles Garrett ('21), Zander Herbert ('23) and Jazzy Dunning ('23) posed with her for a picture!
