SJCS Contingent Attends 51st March for Life in Washington, DC

Thirty-one SJCS students, along with several teacher and parent chaperones, attended the 51st March for Life January 18-20 in Washington, D.C.

On Thursday, the group toured some major monuments, including the World War II Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial and the Korean War and Vietnam War Veterans Memorials.

The next day, with planned bus transportation canceled due to snowy road conditions, most of the group walked to a nearby parish for Mass. Then they proceeded to the March for Life Rally that featured a variety of speakers, including former NFL player Benjamin Watson; former University of Michigan and current Los Angeles Chargers Coach Jim Harbaugh; and Jean-Marie Davis, a survivor of human trafficking who is now Executive Director of Branches Pregnancy Resource Center in Vermont. The actual March followed.

On Saturday, the group visited the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, where Fr. Rhett Williams celebrated Mass before they departed for home.

STUDENT QUOTES

"The March for Life was a really amazing experience. It was super fun on the first day when we drove up and then walked around and looked at the monuments. The March itself was a great experience too because there were so many people. I didn't think that there would be as many because of all of the snow, but there were a lot of people. Another thing that was really cool was when the guy who inspired the Jesus Revolution movie came to do the final prayer. I also love going to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception because it is so beautiful. I love that we went to Mass multiple times on the trip. I'm extremely grateful for this trip because it allows me to stand up for my beliefs and to create amazing memories with my friends."

"The March was great this year. I had even more fun than I did last year. My favorite part of the trip is before the march when everyone is gathered. Hearing different speakers is impactful, and it was cool to see Coach Harbaugh, someone I recognized."
-- Walker Jones ('25)

"March for Life was truly an amazing experience. I met so many new people, made memories I will remember forever and had a whole new view on Pro-Life."
