Lacrosse: Boys Earn 7th Seed; Girls Close With 3 Wins in a Row

The SJCS Varsity boys lacrosse team capped the regular season with a 5-3 victory over visiting Wade Hampton on Thursday night.

Brendan Alvis scored two goals, and Walker Wolfram, Garrett Greer and Mason Brierton scored a goal each for the Knights, who evened their record at 6-6.

Mills McCauley had two assists, and Wolfram and Greer each contributed one assist.

Goalie Dixon Watts made six saves.

Next, the Knights, seeded seventh, will play on the road Wednesday night in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs against No. 2 Greenville.


Girls Lacrosse

The Varsity girls lacrosse team finished strong, ending the season with a 10-3 win over Westside on Thursday night and a three-game winning streak.

Mia Piccuta scored three goals for the Knights (4-10), and Kristen Nelson and Charlotte Papps each had two goals. Grace Eilers, Sonia Julio Untener and Gabby Bucci had a goal apiece, and Piccuta, Nelson and Papps each had an assist.

Sadie Butchko made nine saves in goal for the Knights.

After losing their first seven games, the Knights won four of their last seven, and two of the three losses were by one goal.

Girls Soccer

The Middle School Knights defeated visiting Shannon Forest 2-0 on Thursday.
