Senior Nina Brown came in seventh and led the SJCS girls to an eighth-place finish in the Championship race of the Eye Opener cross country meet Saturday at the Milliken Center in Spartanburg.
Brown, who won the Class 1A state championship a year ago, finished in 20:38 in a race that had 50 teams and 401 finishers. She was followed on the Knights by sophomore Beatrice Hamilton (43rd, 22:06) and junior Daniela Fernandez (54th, 22:26).
Sophomore Burke Moorman led the St. Joe's boys, placing 98th in 18:47. The Championship boys race had 49 teams and 429 finishers.

The Varsity teams will compete in the Patriot Classic at the Duckworth Complex in Anderson on Saturday.
The Middle School cross country Knights will host a scrimmage involving the teams in the Carolina Middle School Conference today at 4:30 PM.
