Harper Greer Sets High Jump Record; Girls Soccer Ends Streak

SJCS senior Harper Greer eclipsed her own school record in the high jump Tuesday, winning the event by clearing 5 feet, 2 inches in a meet at Southside Christian School.

Greer set the record last year when she cleared five feet on several occasions.

Also in the girls competition, Odette Brown took first in the 1,600; Nina Brown was runner-up in the 800; Evie Benner was third in the 200; Francie Thompson was fourth in the 400; and the Knights' 4x800 relay team placed first.

Among the SJCS boys, Lucas Salgado took first in the 100 and second in the 200; Liam Novak was second in the 1,600; Nick Passerrello was second in the discus; and Paul Norman was third in the high jump.

Girls Soccer

Caroline Getz had two goals and an assist to lead the SJCS Varsity girls to a 4-3 victory over visiting Wade Hampton in a non-region match Tuesday night.

With the win, the Knights (6-5-1) ended a seven-match losing streak against the Class 4A Generals.

It was a big night for the Carolines: Caroline Mruz and Caroline Tally had the other goals, and Caroline Howard contributed an assist. Lauren Mruz also had an assist.


The SJCS softball team jumped out to a big lead, but visiting Brashier Middle College rallied for a 16-15 victory over the Knights on Tuesday.

Stella Nash had four hits for the Knights, including an inside-the-park home run and a double. She scored three runs and knocked in two.

But BMC, trailing 12-4 after four innings, scored eight runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth to take the lead.

Avery Phillips had three hits and scored three runs. Sydney Slater and Natalia Montes each had two hits, and Slater and Abby Green each had two RBIs.
