Grace Eilers Scores 100th Goal; Also Tennis, Golf, Softball

The SJCS Varsity girls lacrosse team won on the road Monday night, defeating Irmo 11-7.

The highlight for the Knights was senior Grace Eilers scoring her 100th career goal. She scored four in all to lead the attack.

Natalia Cardenas, Mia Piccuta and Kristen Nelson each scored two goals, and Gabby Bucci scored once for St. Joe's.

It was the second victory of the season for the Knights (2-10), who have been much more competitive in recent games. They lost a pair of one-goal games (the latter in overtime) before last night's win.

  • The JV Knights also won, as seven different players scored in a 12-1 victory over Irmo.

Boys Lacrosse

Brendan Alvis scored all seven goals, but visiting Greenville High beat the SJCS Varsity boys lacrosse team 15-7 on Monday night.

Alvis scored his sixth goal with 7:54 left in the third quarter to pull the Knights to within 8-6, but the Red Raiders went on a 7-0 run to take command.

Walker Wolfram had two assists for the Knights (5-5), and Garrett Greer, Jackson Evette and Mason Brierton each had one assist.
 


Boys Golf

The SJCS boys golf team carded a 351 to place 10th out of 17 teams in the Greenville County championship Monday at The Thornblade Club.

While behind champion Greenville High, the Knights finished ahead of several public-school stalwarts, including Hillcrest, Wade Hampton and Greer.

Among the bright spots was co-captain Dean Remsberg's strong finish to a team-leading 79. Host club members Luke Bryant and Bryce Chapman contributed 87 and 92, respectively.

Hudson Wolfram, playing in his first high school tournament, added a 92, and Smith Crick rounded out the team's results with a 96.

Boys Tennis

The JV boys tennis team beat visiting Camperdown Academy 7-0 on Monday.

Softball

The SJCS softball team had an early lead but dropped a 10-7 decision against the visiting Greenville Hurricanes on Monday.

Sydney Slater had three hits, and Avery Phillips, Stella Nash and Abby Green had two hits apiece for the Knights, who led 4-0 after three innings.

Nash and Natalia Montes each knocked in two runs.
