SJCS 8th Graders Take Part in Poetry Recitation Contest

Throughout the month of April, National Poetry Month, the 8th grade students researched and analyzed poetry in groups and presented Google Slideshow presentations to the class.

As part of the presentations, the students had to memorize and choreograph the poem for performance. Each class voted for the best performers to represent them in the Poetry Recitation Competition, which took place in the JPII Center.

  • “Alone” by Maya Angelou
  • Dean Dryden, Brodie Martin, Davis Fairey and Jack Lerstang
  • “The Tyger” by William Blake
