Graduation: Congratulations to the SJCS Class of 2023!

St. Joseph’s Catholic School held Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2023 on Friday, May 26 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Simpsonville. The senior class totaled 89 graduates who earned the following accolades:

  • 86 seniors (97% of the class) received scholarship offers, with an average award package of $141,216 per student and a total award amount of $12,144,602. Four students were awarded “full rides” (full tuition or tuition and room and board) to at least one college.
  • 85 seniors (96% of the class) received South Carolina state scholarship awards: 17 Palmetto Fellows Scholarships, 54 Life Scholarships and 14 Hope Scholarships.
  • Two members of the class were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation: both were named National Merit Commended Students.
  • 11 members of the class committed to continue their athletic careers in college.

The Class of 2023 was also distinguished by the addition of 15 new colleges and universities to the ever-growing list of schools to which the previous 1,667 graduates were accepted, including Oregon State University and Stony Brook University.

The Salutation was delivered by Sylvia Kucinic, this year’s Father Fox Award recipient; the Senior Class Gift presentation by Kate Saunders and Josh Burns; and the Farewell Address by Noah Watts, the Redemptoris Custos Award recipient.
