Knights Earn All-State Honors at State Meet

SJCS senior Caroline Linen won the Class AA state championship in the 1,600-meter run, and she and senior Dylan McTigue made the all-state team with their performances in the state meet Saturday at Lower Richland High School in Hopkins.

Caroline Linen took first in the 1,600 with a time of 5:20.24. She also was runner-up in the 800 with a personal record (PR) of 2:23.29.

Dylan McTigue was state runner-up in the 800 with a PR of 1:57.80. Senior Tristan McTigue finished fourth in the 800 with a PR of 2:01.37.

Also for the St. Joe’s boys, senior Tristan Noel placed fifth in the pole vault, clearing 11 feet; and Dylan McTigue, Tristan McTigue, senior Jeffrey Werth, and sophomore Ryan Kane took fifth in the 4×800 relay (8:49.69).

Among the girls, senior Brigid Alvis recorded a pair of PRs, taking third in the 800 (2:34.75) and fifth in the 400 (1:021.56). Eighth-grader Lauren Kelly finished fourth in the 3,200 (PR of 12:31.33).

Caroline Linen, Brigid Alvis, Lauren Kelly, and senior Madison Powers were state runners-up in the 4×800 relay (10:04.49), and Linen, Alvis, Powers, and freshman Nina Brown came in fourth in the 4×400 relay with a PR of 4:16.92.

In the team results, the SJCS girls took fifth out of 26 teams with 46 points, and the boys came in 12th out of 29 teams with 21 points.
