Swimmers Take 4th in County; Volleyball Wins 3 at Dorman

The SJCS swim team had an impressive showing in the Greenville County Invitational on Saturday at the Greenville Aquatic Center.

The St. Joe's boys and girls finished fourth out of 15 teams, both finishing behind only Class 4A Eastside (seven straight boys state titles, five for the girls) and perennial 5A powers J.L. Mann (which won the boys state title this past year) and Riverside. That's quite a feat for a 1A team.

For the SJCS boys, Colin Jordan took first in the 100 freestyle and the 200 freestyle, and Owen Byrd took first in the 100 butterfly and second in the 100 backstroke. For the girls, Sylvia Walker took first in the 100 and 200 freestyle events.

The boys team of Jordan, Byrd, Evan Harman and Aidan Flaherty took third in the 200 freestyle relay, and Jordan, Byrd, Harman and Connor Farrell took third in the 400 freestyle relay.

The Knights' next meet will be at 5:00 PM Tuesday against Brashier Middle College and Southside Christian at Spaulding Farm Pool, and it will be Senior Night.

St. Joe's will be back at the Greenville Aquatic Center for the Region 1-1A meet at 12:15 PM Saturday. The SJCS boys have won six consecutive region championships, and the girls have won four in a row.
