SJCS Grads Help College Teams to Golf Titles
SJCS graduates Christian Baliker (Class of 2016) and Carly Lyvers (Class of 2018) helped their college teams win conference championships and will be competing in NCAA Regionals.
Christian is a graduate senior at College of Charleston, which shot the lowest 54-hole team total (834) in conference history in winning the Colonial Athletic Association tournament on April 27 at Dataw Island Club on Saint Helena Island.
Christian finished fourth overall at 4-under par with rounds of 64, 75, and 73 and made the all-tournament team.
College of Charleston will compete in the NCAA Stillwater Regional May 17-19 at the Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla.
Carly is a redshirt sophomore at James Madison University, which rallied from a 16-shot deficit heading into the final round to win the Colonial Athletic Association women’s tournament on April 27 at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C.
Carly came up big for the Dukes, shooting a 1-over-par 73 in the final round, including pars on the final eight holes. She finished the tournament in a tie for 11th place.
James Madison will play in the NCAA Louisville Women’s Golf Regional, hosted at the University of Louisville Golf Club on May 10-12.
Both Christian and Carly also were recently recognized as members of the Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll for the 2020 fall semester.
