Odette Brown Sets Record at Nationals

SJCS junior Odette Brown set a South Carolina state record for 15-16 girls in the 200-meter breaststroke at the National Club Swimming Association Summer Championships July 25 in Indianapolis.

Swimming for Team Greenville, Odette won the event with a time of 2:29.35, eclipsing the previous mark of 2:29.82 set by Zoe Dixon of Virginia in 2021.

Odette also placed seventh at the NCSAs in both the 100 breaststroke (1:12.23) and the 200 freestyle (2:05.10).

Three other Knights scored points for their club teams at the national level.

Also for Team Greenville at NCSAs, sophomore Sutton Alexander finished 19th in the 100 butterfly (1:02.57), and Walker Simpson, a 2026 graduate who signed with Xavier University, placed 20th in the 200 individual medley (2:08.79).

At the YMCA Long Course Championships in Ocala, Florida, July 28-August 1, senior Bella Stewart, swimming for Greater Spartanburg YMCA, placed 24th in the 100 backstroke (1:07.30) and assisted the 800 freestyle and 400 medley relay teams to runner-up finishes.
