College Counseling Holds Annual Essay Workshop

College Counseling Holds Annual Essay Workshop

The College Counseling Office held its annual College Essay Workshop July 15-19 in Barbara McGrath Hall.

This program brought in college admission representatives each of the first three days to offer hands-on assistance for writing memorable, specific essays. Additionally, the workshop offered students insights into how to make the most of their interactions with college admissions personnel.

Students brainstormed, outlined and wrote their essays during the week and completed one or two essays by the end of the week. Participants received general feedback from college admissions counselors and also received individual feedback on their completed essays from one admissions counselor.

Counselors from the following colleges participated: Denison, Dickinson, Wofford, Notre Dame, Marquette, Samford and Furman.

Those students unable to attend will work with their college counselors one-on-one to assist them in writing their college essays -- from brainstorming through final submission.
