Varsity Teams, JV Boys Defeat Powdersville

Carl Harrison scored 14 points and the Varsity boys basketball team earned its first Region 2-3A win by beating Powdersville 49-37 on Tuesday night.

Carter Bears added nine points for the visiting Knights (11-2, 1-1), who bounced back from a loss at Christ Church in their region opener. Smith Crick and Sam Patterson each had eight points.

Harrison scored 10 of his 14 points in the first half when the Knights took a 28-21 lead.

They led 33-28 after three quarters, and then Deux Greene helped to secure the victory by scoring all seven of his points in the fourth quarter, including hitting 5 of 6 from the free-throw line.

Caleb Hood contributed three points for the Knights, who will host Carolina High on Friday night.

Varsity Girls

Evie Adams scored 22 points and the Varsity girls broke the game open in the second quarter of their 58-30 win over Powdersville.

The Knights (9-6, 2-0) led by only 12-7 after one quarter and then outscored the Patriots 42-15 over the next two periods to put the game out of reach.

The Knights made 14 of 16 from the free-throw line. Adams was 7 of 9 from the line. Tiffany Helmer, who had nine points, was 4 for 4, and Lola Kelly, who had six points, was 2 for 2.
 
Londyn Woods also had six points. Gianna Franchina, Kaia Jacoby and Macy Caldwell had four points, and Stella Nash had three points.
 

Varsity girls at Powdersville - Evie Adams


Junior Varsity Boys

Noah Ball scored 12 points, and Jay Sanders pitched in 10 points and pulled down 14 rebounds and the JV boys registered a 47-41 win over the host Patriots on Tuesday night.

Barrett Barnhill had nine points and four assists for the Knights, and Deniym Wilkins had eight points. Zander Estevez scored four points, and Miles Norman and Grant Brasington had two points apiece.

Middle School Boys

A big first quarter put the Middle School boys in the driver's seat. A big third quarter enabled them to pull away and register a 39-21 win over host First Presbyterian Academy on Tuesday.

Carter Lindsay scored 13 points and George Covington had nine points for the Knights, who led 13-0 after the first quarter.

The Crusaders recovered and trailed 20-13 at halftime. But the Knights had another surge in the third quarter to take a 34-16 lead.

Giorgos Demas scored six points and Billy Couchell had four points. Levi Norris had three points, Daniel Moody had two points and Jack Copeland and Davis Hayes each had one point.

Middle School Girls

Katy Gernon scored 15 points, Mary Bradford Brown added 10 points and the Middle School girls cruised to a 44-18 win over First Presbyterian Academy.

Logan Hand had eight points, Corinne Okuley had six points, Reagan Monroe had three points and Harper Green had two points.
