St. Joe's Teachers Chosen as AP Readers, Graders

Eight SJCS teachers had the honor of being selected by ETS (Educational Testing Service) and the College Board as readers/graders in their respective academic subjects.

This selection is made through a competitive process, and teachers receive both professional development training and CEUs (Continuing Education Units).

Exams are graded in June for the tests taken this past May.

Some teachers have been serving in this capacity longer than others. Meby Carr, after serving as a reader for the College Board in AP United States history for more than 20 years, switched this year to being a distributed reader for AP Government and Politics.

Meanwhile, Jamie Swingle is serving for the first time as an AP US History reader.

They serve in different capacities as well. George Carr is an early table leader for AP statistics. He begins five days early and sets up the rubric, benchmarks, training, practice and calibration papers on a specific question.

Regardless of their circumstances, congratulations are in order to the following teachers:

  • George Carr: AP Statistics Early Table Leader
  • Meby Carr: AP Government and Politics Distributed Reader
  • George Gabor: AP Calculus AB Reader
  • Ryan Koon: AP Biology Reader
  • Cheryl Landstrom: AP Research Reader
  • Paul Meyerhofer: AP Computer Science Principles Table Leader
  • Marla Palmer: AP European History Reader
  • Jamie Swingle: AP US History Reader
