SJCS Contingent Attends 53nd March for Life

SJCS Contingent Attends 53nd March for Life

Thirty-eight SJCS students, along with six faculty and parent chaperones, attended the 53nd March for Life January 22-23 in Washington, D.C.

The group traveled by bus from Greenville early Thursday morning and, after a stop in Richmond, Virginia, for lunch, arrived Thursday afternoon and did some sightseeing.

On Friday morning, after breakfast, the group went to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (the largest Catholic church in North America). Following a brief tour, they attended a Mass at the Basilica that was celebrated for the Diocese of Charleston and the Diocese of Philadelphia.

Then they boarded the bus for the March for Life, an annual rally against the practice and legality of abortion held every year on or around the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, a decision that legalized abortion.

What is normally a three-day trip for the St. Joe's contingent was cut short by the impending inclement weather. Thus, by late afternoon, at the end of the March for Life, the group boarded the bus to head back to Greenville.
