Roundup: Boys Soccer, Boys Tennis, Lacrosse

The SJCS Varsity boys soccer team rolled to a 4-0 win over visiting Carolina High in a Region 2-3A match on Monday night.

Jonny Bunecke scored a pair of goals to lead the Knights, now 8-1 overall and 4-1 in the region.

Jacob Stewart recorded a goal and an assist, and Evan Farrell also scored a goal. Russell Scott had two assists, and Mateo Rosa had an assist.

  • Evan Lobo scored two goals, and the JV Knights beat Carolina High 4-0. Ricky Velasco Lozada and Grant Brasington each added a goal for the Knights.

Boys Tennis

The Varsity boys lost to visiting Spartanburg Day, 6-0 on Monday. Spartanburg Day is the three-time defending SCISA Class 3A state champion.

SJCS Coach Ken Arp said Hampton Norwood, who lost 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, had the top performance for the Knights.

"The opposing coach commented on how athletic Hampton played, and the match was tight to the end," Coach Arp said.

Coach Arp said Brodie Miller and Byron Webb also played well in their 6-4, 6-2 loss at No. 2 doubles.

Boys Lacrosse

The Varsity boys lacrosse team lost in triple overtime at Hillcrest, 6-5.

The highlight for the Knights: Junior goalie Joe Ramsey recorded his 100th career save.
