Puppetry Specialist Visits With Theatre Students

Several High School and Middle School Theatre classes welcomed Aretta Baumgartner as a guest artist-in-residence January 28-30.

Aretta is a puppetry specialist with the Teaching Artist Alliance who travels the country to share workshops in puppetry and movement with schools and at Theatre conventions.

The Middle School classes and HS "Intro to Theatre Arts" were introduced to the history of puppetry, created characters in found object puppetry and explored Muppet-style puppets (see video).

The High School cast members of The Little Mermaid participated in a movement workshop, using Viewpoints to explore creating their characters for the upcoming spring musical (March 26-29).
