Middle School Teams Reach Conference Finals

Middle School Teams Reach Conference Finals

Carter Lindsay helped the SJCS boys get out to a fast start and the Knights went on to a 39-33 win over visiting Christ Church in the semifinals of the Carolina Middle School Conference tournament Wednesday.

The top-seeded Knights will play in the championship, but the inclement weather interrupted the other half of the bracket, so the opponent and the date of the final still have to be determined.

Against fifth-seeded Christ Church, Lindsey scored nine of his 18 points in the first quarter, and the Knights jumped out to an 11-4 lead. They led 17-10 at halftime and were able to hang on in the second half.

Rylan Murray had eight points, Teigan Styles had seven, George Covington had four and Fisher Marosek had two points.

As with the boys' tournament, the girls' final will be on hold while the other side of the bracket is decided.

Katy Gernon and Mary Bradford Brown each scored nine points, Elizabeth McCall Suggs scored seven points and Logan Hand scored six points for the Knights, who led by only 5-2 after the first quarter.

However, the Knights had a big edge in the second and third quarters and led 32-14 heading into the final period.

Sienna Driscoll and Olivia Patterson each had four points, Nora Nash had three points and Sadie Burress had two points.
