JV Knights' Rally Comes Up Short Against Patriots

JV Knights' Rally Comes Up Short Against Patriots

In a closely contested game, the Junior Varsity Knights made a late charge but came up short in a 17-12 loss at Powdersville in their season finale on Thursday night.

After Powdersville scored a touchdown to take a 17-6 lead with 4:17 remaining, a great kickoff return by Tim Power set the Knights up near midfield.

St. Joe's drove down the field, and Austin Courchaine followed the left side of the line into the end zone for a touchdown. The two-point try failed, but the Knights were within 17-12.

St. Joe's attempted an onside kick, but it was recovered by the Patriots. The Knights forced a three-and-out and a punt, giving them a final opportunity, but an interception sealed the outcome.

The game began with both teams showcasing strong defenses. After a scoreless first quarter, the Patriots drew first blood in the second with a 1-yard touchdown run and took a 7-0 lead into halftime.

Early in the third quarter, Powdersville added a 38-yard field goal, extending its advantage to 10-0.

The Knights responded with a huge, momentum-shifting play as Courchaine broke free for a 70-yard touchdown run, bringing St. Joe's to within 10-6.

It remained that way until the Patriots scored in the fourth, setting up the Knights' late rally.
