Five musicians from the GVL Jazz collective entertained a gathering of St. Joseph's students, faculty and staff in Barbara McGrath Hall during community time on Friday, April 17.
With musicians playing the guitar, the trumpet, the drums, the saxophone and the cello, the five played a variety of jazz tunes, filling the hall with the sounds that originated in New Orleans in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
In addition, guitarist Matt Dingledine, JVL Jazz Co-Founder and President, provided the students with a brief history of jazz, including its importance with relation to Catholicism, as well as initiating a question-and-answer session along the way.
We appreciate GVL Jazz taking the time to both entertain and educate our students!
