Family members and friends gathered by the bus Wednesday afternoon for a sendoff for the state-bound SJCS girls soccer team.
The Knights (13-4) will play Oceanside Collegiate Academy (16-2) in the Class 3A state championship match at noon Thursday at Memorial Stadium in Columbia.
Katie Martin, in her first year as Head Coach, has led St. Joe's to the state final for the first time since the team won back-to-back 2A championships in 2021 and 2022 -- the school's first in girls soccer since joining the South Carolina High School League.
St. Joe's also won SCISA titles in 2004 and 2005.
Oceanside has won five consecutive state championships, having won 3A titles in 2021, 2022 and 2025 and 2A titles in 2023 and 2024.
