Design Students Create 'Spook-tacular' Lanterns

In October, Mr. Sean Myer's Honors Introduction to Design students displayed their creativity in a most interesting way. In the words of Mr. Myer:

"Our Honors Introduction to Design students brought their creativity to life in a fang-tastic Halloween project -- designing and 3D printing their own eerie-sistible Halloween lanterns! The challenge? To create a wicked lantern that would shine in the darkness, featuring all things spooky, from glowing pumpkins to creepy ghosts.

Mr. Myer 2025 Halloween project

"Students started by casting their ideas and using 3D modeling software to bring their frightfully fun concepts to life. Once their designs were carved to perfection, they used 3D printers to ghost the models into reality, ensuring each lantern would light up with a boo-tiful glow. Testing each design for structural stability and proper lighting, students made sure their lanterns could light the night and impress!

"This scarily hands-on project gave students experience with CAD software, 3D printing and the all-important process of troubleshooting, all while having a howling good time. The result? A graveyard of creative, glowing lanterns that raised the spirits of everyone who saw them!

"With Halloween-themed designs that were as bright as they were spooky, our students showed just how fang-tastic they can be when combining art, engineering and a little Halloween magic. We're dying to see what they'll design next!"
