Boys Golf 3rd in Region; Also Baseball, Softball

The boys golf team shot 331 to place third in the Region 2-3A tournament Friday at Saluda Valley Country Club in Williamston.

Christ Church was first with 297. Saluda Valley proved less forgiving than last year when the Knights fired an impressive 309 at the Upper State Qualifier.

Clyde Williams led the team by posting a 79. George Covington added 83, Bryce Chapman chipped in 84 and Cael Roberts and Liam Davis each shot 85.

The same five were playing today in this year's Upper State Qualifier at Three Pines Country Club in Woodruff.

Baseball

The Varsity Knights completed their regular season with an 11-3 loss on the road against Mountain View Prep on Friday night.

Quinn Walsh and Nolan Green had the only hits for the Knights. Walsh's single drove in two runs in the team's three-run third inning.

The Knights (14-7), seeded sixth in the Upper State, will host No. 11 Woodruff at 7:45 PM Tuesday in the first round of the 3A playoffs (a series of four-team, double-elimination tournaments).

  • The JV Knights lost to MVP 14-0 in five innings in their final game of the season. Hugh Clements, Beau Barnhill, Cooper Bach and Jhoan Rondon Liriano each had a hit for the Knights.

Softball

The SJCS softball team ended its regular season with a 20-8 loss to the visiting Greenville Hurricanes on Friday.

Stella Nash had a two-run, inside-the-park homer and an RBI groundout for the Knights (6-13), and Nora Nash had a run-scoring single. Jackie Garrett, Eva Carraturo and Lily Seekins each had one hit.

The Knights have the No. 12 seed in the Upper State and will open the playoffs (also double-elimination) on the road against No. 5 Union County at 6:30 PM Wednesday.
