Roundup: Varsity Girls Lacrosse Team Wins in OT
Camila Salgado scored in overtime to lift the SJCS Varsity girls lacrosse team to its first victory of the season, 13-12 over visiting Fountain Inn on Wednesday night.
Elasayd Okuley had five goals to lead the attack for the Knights, who improved to 1-4. Sonia Julio Untener contributed three goals to the team's season-high output.
Salgado and Ariana Vasallo each had two goals, and Alice Martin had a goal and two assists.
JV Girls Lacrosse
Kristin Levato scored four goals and the JV Knights remained undefeated with a 12-0 win over Fountain Inn on Wednesday night.
Molly Monroe and Liza May Perry each scored three goals, and Kate Marchant and Evie Adams each scored once for the Knights, now 5-0.
Varsity Baseball
Henry Dryden hit a three-run, inside-the-park home run and Frank Remsberg hit a two-run, inside-the-park homer, and the SJCS Varsity baseball team defeated host Carolina High 19-0 in three innings on Wednesday night.
Remsberg also had a triple and knocked in four runs. Dryden had two hits and scored four runs. Ben McKay had two hits and three RBIs, and Cade Alt had two hits and two RBIs.
Cade Alt pitched a three-inning no-hitter, and all nine outs were strikeouts.
Junior Varsity Baseball
The JV Knights beat Carolina 29-0 in three innings.
Colin Flynn knocked in four runs; Barrett Barnhill and Warren Bach each drove in three runs; and Dominick Messina, Brayden Royal, Mason Kuzmuch, Hugh Clements and Owen Frazier had two RBIs apiece.
Royal and Bach each had three hits, and Messina and Flynn each had two hits.
Royal, Kuzmich and John Campbell each pitched an inning and combined on a no-hitter, with Royal striking out three and Kuzmich and Campbell two each.
Varsity Track & Field
SJCS athletes had several first-place finishes in a four-team meet at Southside Christian on Wednesday.
Lucas Salgado was the headliner for the Knights, winning the 100-meter dash with a school-record time of 11.12 seconds. He also won the 200 and was on both the victorious 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams along with Sam Patterson, William Gillespie and Paul Norman. Jonathan Kissel took first in the 800.
In the girls meet, Payton Picciuoto won the 800, and Picciuto, Eva Cifuni, Daniela Fernandez and Bea Hamilton teamed to win the 4x800 relay.
The boys finished second, and the girls came in fourth.

Junior Varsity Tennis
The JV Knights lost on the road against Christ Church on Wednesday, 6-1. Kolbe Hanson and Julian Stewart were victorious at No. 1 doubles for the Knights.
