Roundup: Varsity Baseball Team Blanks Palmetto
JP Rambo tossed a one-hitter, Jackson Campbell homered and the SJCS Varsity baseball team shut out host Palmetto 10-0 in five innings in a Region 2-3A game Tuesday night.
Rambo pitched all five innings, struck out nine and walked two for the Knights, who improved to 10-5 overall and 4-2 in the region.
Campbell had two hits -- including a three-run blast in the Knights' four-run third inning -- and scored three runs.
Rambo, Quinn Walsh and Frank Remsberg each had two hits and drove in a run, and John Eberstein and Nolan Green each knocked in two runs.
Middle School Baseball
The Middle School Knights lost at Laurens Academy 17-5 on Tuesday.
Hampton Uzas had two hits and scored two runs, and Jack Copeland and Guy Henry each drove in a un for the Knights.
Softball
The SJCS softball team lost to host Brashier Middle College 11-2 on Tuesday in a Region 2-3A game played at Loretta C. Wood Park in Pelzer.
Stella Nash, Addie Murphy and Bentley Thompson each had two hits for the Knights, and Murphy and Jackie Garrett each knocked in a run.
Boys Tennis
The final score was 5-1, but the Knights lost several close matches against visiting Christ Church on Tuesday
"We had three third-set tie-breakers and won one," SJCS Coach Ken Arp said. "However, the ones we lost were 11-9 and 13-11. It doesn't get much closer, and we had a match point in one of those. And number two doubles competed well in the second set."
Whit Wilkins recorded the Knights' victory, winning in a tie-breaker at No. 1 singles, 10-6.
