Roundup: Track, Tennis, Golf, Baseball, Lacrosse, Soccer
The SJCS Varsity boys took second and the girls finished third in a five-team track and field meet at Southside Christian School on Tuesday.
Burke Moorman won the 800- and 1,600-meter runs and teamed with Jonathan Kissel, Carter Dausen and Elliot Thompson to win the 4x800 relay.
Lucas Salgado was runner-up in the 100, but his time of 11.07 seconds eclipsed the school record of 11.12 he set back on March 12 at Southside Christian. William Gillespie came in third in the 100, and Sam Patterson was fourth.
In the 200, Gillespie was second, Patterson third and Eliot Power fifth. In the 400, Matt Patterson was second and Thomas Potter fourth. Kissel was runner-up in the 800.
Salgado, Gillespie, Sam Patterson and Paul Norman won the 4x100 relay.
Mack Rambo was fourth in the shot put, and Nick Passerrello took fourth in the discus.
In the girls meet, Eva Cifuni won the 800, with Bea Hamilton second and Sutton Alexander third, and Odette Brown won the 1,600. Gianna Franchina finished second in the 200 and third in the 100, and Francie Thompson came in fifth in the 200.
In the 400, Daniela Fernandez was runner-up, with Thompson fourth and Brown fifth.
Brown, Fernandez, Hamilton and Payton Picciuto won the 4x400 relay, and Alexander, Brown, Fernandez and Picciuto won the 4x800 relay.

Boys Tennis
The Varsity Knights swept to a 7-0 victory over visiting Spartanburg Christian on Tuesday.
SJCS Coach Ken Arp said he was particularly impressed with Brodie Miller and Byron Webb, the new No. 2 doubles team.
"They had a good win against what I thought was the best team on their team," Coach Arp said.

Boys Golf
The SJCS boys golf team recorded a season-best 164 but finished six shots behind host Riverside in a three-team match at Thornblade Club on Tuesday. Greer was third with 191.
Riverside's Brennan Kelly took medalist honors with his par 36, but the Knights demonstrated consistency: Bryce Chapman and Smith Crick each shot 40, Clyde Williams 41, Cael Roberts and George Covington each finished at 43 and Hudson Wolfram at 45.
Varsity Baseball
Southside Christian went ahead with two runs in the fifth inning and pulled away with three more in the seventh and beat the host Knights 7-3 in a Region 2-3A game Tuesday night.
John Eberstein had two hits for the Knights (9-4, 3-1), and Jackson Campbell and Quinn Walsh each had a run-scoring single.
Junior Varsity Baseball
The JV Knights also lost to the visiting Sabres, 8-6.
Alex Gibeau went 3 for 4 for the Knights, with a pair of doubles and four RBIs. Dean Dryden had two its and scored three runs, and Josh Lyons drove in two runs.
Lacrosse
The Varsity boys lacrosse team lost on the road against Legion Collegiate Academy, 12-4, on Tuesday night.
The JV girls lacrosse team won at Dorman, 14-0, and remains undefeated at 7-0.
Soccer
The JV girls soccer team beat visiting Mountain View Prep on Tuesday night, 2-0.
