Roundup: Softball, Soccer, Baseball, Boys Tennis

Addie Murphy had three hits, including a triple, and knocked in four runs and the SJCS softball team beat visiting Carolina High 22-3 in five innings on Tuesday.

Nora Nash had two hits and two RBIs, Eva Carraturo and Lily Seekins each had two hits and drove in a run and Lilli Painter drove in two runs.

Sydney Slater and Stella Nash combined to no-hit the Trojans, although each walked three batters. Slater pitched the first four innings and struck out 13; Nash pitched the fifth and had three strikeouts.

JV Baseball

Josh Lyons hit a two-run, inside-the-park homer during a 12-run second inning, and the JV Knights defeated host Berea 21-3 in three innings on Tuesday.

Lyons' home run was one of just five hits for the Knights, who took advantage of 19 walks. John Campbell, Warren Bach, Miles Parrick and Brayden Royal each had a hit, and Campbell and Royal each had two RBIs.

Alex Gibeau pitched a scoreless first inning, struck out two and earned the victory.

Middle School Baseball

The host Knights led early, but Mitchell Road Academy rallied for a 10-3 victory on Tuesday night.

Jack Copeland and Guy Henry each had two hits and drove in a run for the Knights, and Alex Ashy had a hit and an RBI. Hampton Uzas, Levi Norris and Miles Lynn each had one hit.

Varsity Girls Soccer

Lola Kelly scored two goals to lead the Varsity girls to a 3-0 victory over visiting Cardinal Newman on Tuesday night.

Reagan Grace also scored for the Knights, who improved to 6-1. Caroline Getz had two assists, and Taylor Hargett had an assist.

Ellery Watts and Lillie Mendelson each played a half to combine for the shutout, and each made three saves.

Varsity Boys Soccer

Andrew Moore-King scored in overtime to lift the Varsity boys to a 1-0 win over visiting Cardinal Newman on Tuesday night. Liam Montes assisted on the goal.

Josh Linebaugh made 10 saves in posting the shutout for the unbeaten Knights (6-0).

Varsity Boys Tennis

The Knights lost on the road against Class 5A Greenville High, 6-0.

Despite the defeat, SJCS Coach Ken Arp said he was pleased with the team's effort, especially that of junior Jeremiah Adams, who lost 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

"He played a solid match against a very good player," Coach Arp said. "His attitude was excellent. I am just really excited about how hard he has worked on his game, and it is showing every time he steps on the court."

The JV team lost at Greenville, 6-1. Kolbe Hanson and Connor Campbell registered the lone victory for the Knights, winning 8-5 at No. 1 doubles.
