Roundup: Golf, Tennis, Track, Baseball, Softball
Captain Bryce Chapman earned medalist honors and led the SJCS boys golf team to a 168-181 victory over visiting Cardinal Newman at The Preserve at Verdae Golf Club on Wednesday.
Chapman shot 41, one stroke better than the Cardinals' Adam Grassinger.
Smith Crick and Cael Roberts each recorded a 42, and George Covington carded a 43 to round out the team's total.
JV Track and Field
Mack Rambo won the shot put in the Grades 9-10 Division with a school-record throw of 12.9 meters, highlighting the Knights' performance in the Greenville County JV Track and Field Championships Tuesday and Wednesday at Eastside High School.
Rambo's effort surpassed the previous mark of 12.65 meters established in 2020 by Rashad Luckey Dowdy.

Nick Passerrello came in fifth in the 9-10 shot put, and Jensen Granger finished eighth. CJ Sufczynski placed fourth in 7-8 shot put.
In the running events, Eliot Power took fourth in the 11-12 100-meter dash, and the team of Carter Dausen, Matthew Olsen, Elliott Thompson and Sam Astier Juanes came in seventh in 9-10 4x800 relay.
Oakley Driscoll was the top finisher among the girls, taking ninth in the 9-10 400 hurdles.

Varsity Boys Tennis
The Varsity Knights beat host Eastside 5-1 on Wednesday. Whit Wilkins, Jeremiah Adams, Hampton Norwood and Alexander Millener recorded singles victories for the Knights.
"Whit has played solid all year long at the 'sacrificial lamb' position on the team, always playing the best player on the opposing team," Coach Ken Arp said of the Knights' No. 1 player. "He won both matches this week and was the sole match winner against Christ Church."

JV Boys Tennis
The JV Knights lost to visiting Spartanburg Day on Wednesday, 7-1. Kolbe Hanson, with an 8-4 win at No. 1 singles, recorded the lone victory for the Knights.
Varsity Softball
The Knights' softball team lost to visiting Brashier Middle College, 13-8, on Wednesday.
Addie Murphy had three hits and two RBIs for the Knights, and Stella Nash had two hits, two RBIs and scored two runs.
Abby Green had two hits and scored twice, Sydney Slater had two RBIs and Kate Noel scored two runs and knocked in a run.
The JV Knights scored two runs on an error in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Palmetto 5-4 on Wednesday.
With the Knights trailing 4-3, Alex Gibeau led off the sixth with a walk and Josh Lyons singled. Barrett Barnhill reached on an error, and both Gibeau and Lyons scored to give St. Joe's the victory.
Dean Dryden pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win. He allowed one hit, struck out five and walked one.
Lyons had three hits and two RBIs, and Barnhill drove in two runs.
Middle School Baseball
The Middle School Knights lost at home against Palmetto, 12-6. Hampton Uzas and Guy Henry each had a hit and drove in a run.
