Middle School Students Enjoy First Walk-A-Thon
The first annual SJCS Middle School Walk-A-Thon was held on Tuesday, February 11 in the gym. It was originally scheduled to be held outside in October (Hurricane Helene intervened), but neither the wait nor the fact that it was inside was able to dampen the spirits of those who participated.
The students who took part clearly enjoyed the event, from the camaraderie, to the music (Mr. Jacob Kiser was spinning the tunes!), to the hot dogs (thank you, Spinx!), to the snacks (there were plenty), to the prizes and gift cards, to the photo table (a highly popular spot run by senior Max Orbon).
The event raised more than $4,500 to support the programming of the St. Joseph's Fine Arts Department -- activities and classes that benefit every Middle School student.
Sixth-grader Noah Miller completed the most laps (114, 5.42 miles). Seventh-graders Anna Johnson and Mathilde Laniray and sixth-grader Laurel Neal tied for second place (109 laps, 5.19 miles).

Eighth-grader Mya Armitage raised the most money, with eighth-grader Rachel Quesnell in second place and seventh-grader Benjamin Pelfrey in third.
Thank you to Mrs. Malphrus and Mrs. Harvey for leading the charge to make it happen, to all of the Fine Arts teachers, to the administration, to the Jubilate Arts Guild and to all of those who participated, volunteered and sponsored to make the first Walk-A-Thon a hugely successful event!!
