Knights Split Over Break, Play Cavs at Fluor Field

The SJCS Varsity baseball team will make its annual visit to Fluor Field tonight to take on rival Christ Church in a key Region 2-3A game. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM.

The Knights enter the game with an overall record of 7-3, including 2-0 in the region. The Cavaliers, 3-3, have yet to play a region game.

St. Joe's is coming off a 17-10 loss at home Friday against Legion Collegiate Academy, which snapped a six-game winning streak.

Jackson Campbell had two hits for the Knights, including a three-run homer, and Henry Dryden also had two hits and three RBIs. Frank Remsberg had two hits, and Ben McKay, JP Rambo and Nolan Green each drove in a run.

On Friday, March 14, Quinn Walsh and Green combined to blank visiting Mountain View Prep in a 7-0 victory.

Walsh pitched the first five innings, allowing two hits while striking out 10. Green threw two hitless innings and struck out four.

It marked the fourth consecutive shutout for the Knights, who allowed just one run over a stretch of five games (26 innings).

Campbell smacked a two-run homer, Dryden had two hits and drove in a run and McKay, Walsh and Henry Eilers each knocked in a run.

The Knights then played a pair of games over spring break.

On Thursday, March 20, the Knights extended their winning streak to six games with an 11-6 win at Mauldin.

Lucas Thompson earned the victory, allowing four runs (three earned) while striking out five over 4.2 innings. Liam Okuley pitched the final 2.1 innings and picked up the save.

Walsh had two hits and three RBIs, Remsberg had two hits and Campbell had three RBIs. Dryden, Rambo and John Eberstein each drove in a run.

JV Baseball

Brayden Royal and Dean Dryden pitched the JV Knights to a 6-0 win over visiting Mountain View Prep on March 14.

Royal no-hit the Stars for five innings, striking out nine and walking two. Dryden allowed two hits, struck out two and didn't walk a batter over two innings.

Royal also had two hits, including a run-scoring single, and Mason Kuzmich had a two-run double. Barrett Barnhill and Colin Flynn each knocked in a run.
