The SJCS boys golf team finished in a tie for 11th place in the Class 3A state tournament at Newberry Country Club on Tuesday.

Smith Crick led the Knights on the second day with his 80 -- highlighted by an eagle 2 on the first hole from 130 yards out -- and his two-round total of 160 put him in a tie for 28th place. Cael Roberts was next at 82, and his 161 left him in a tie for 30th.

Rounding out the Knights' scores on Tuesday were Hudson Wolfram at 84 and Bryce Chapman and Clyde Williams, both at 86.

Girls Golf

Julia Conroy (Class of 2026) has been named captain of the SJCS girls golf team for the 2025 season.

"Julia has shown leadership skills along with her golf skills and successfully balances school, work, sports and more," Coach Brenda Rutledge said. "She was St. Joseph's number one golfer last year, many times achieving the low score of the entire field that often included multiple schools."

Julia also has achieved Ace level with First Tee, and she volunteers with First Tee and with the BMW Charity Pro Am.

The team recently held an interest meeting to answer questions about the upcoming season and to meet Coach Brenda. The season starts in the fall, and practices begin the second week in August, just before school starts. The team plays or practices about two to three days a week during a 10-week season that ends in late October.

If you are interested in finding out more about the opportunity to join the team, please contact Coach Brenda at 864-404-0973.
