School Profile

St. Joseph’s Catholic School is a private, Roman Catholic, coeducational, college-preparatory day school serving nearly 700 students in grades six through twelve. Recognized and approved by and within the Diocese of Charleston, St. Joseph’s seeks academic excellence and strives to form the minds, hearts, and souls of its students in the likeness of Christ. Situated on a 36-acre campus centrally located in Greenville County, the school provides a rigorous liberal arts curriculum with challenging college preparatory,honors, and Advanced Placement classes utilizing both coeducational (high school) and single-gender (middle school) instruction. The school’s spiritual environment, rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church, helps to create a joyful, Christ-centered school in which students can learn and grow. St. Joseph’s also offers more than 100 co-curricular activities, including athletics and fine arts, as well as academic, leadership, service, and personal enrichment clubs and organizations.

AP Examinations
Students are admitted into AP courses based on grades in prerequisite courses, teacher recommendations, and PSAT scores. All students enrolled in AP courses are required to take the AP exams.

School of Excellence
Since 2004, the Cardinal Newman Society recognized SJCS as a Catholic Education Honor Roll School of Excellence. Honor Roll schools are marked by the integration of Catholic identity throughout all aspects of their programs, as well as excellence in academics.

College Acceptance and Scholarship
Traditionally, all graduates attend college with the majority entering four-year institutions. The 108 members of the Class of 2022 had 98% entering four-year institutions, 1% entering two-year institutions, and 1% pursuing a gap year. They received acceptances from 130 different colleges and universities, 32 states and DC, and attended 39 different colleges in 16 states and DC.

Ninety-eight percent of the Class of 2022 received at least one merit-based scholarship, totaling 14 million dollars in merit-based scholarships earned.

Athletics
Fourteen members of the Class of 2022 committed to continuing their athletic careers in college. In the school’s twelfth year of competition in the SC High School League, its teams earned three state titles, and one team was state runner-up. 

National Merit Scholarship Competition
The Class of 2022 had two Finalists and two Commended Scholars. Since the school’s first graduation in 1997, there have been fifty-seven Finalists/Semifinalists, fifty-nine Commended Scholars, six National Achievement Scholars, three National Hispanic Scholars, and thirteen National Recognition Program Scholars.
