The cost of higher education at both public and private institutions continues to escalate. Many of the more expensive schools can become affordable if there is sufficient financial need-based assistance available.

The best way for prospective candidates to get to know the United States Merchant Marine Academy is to attend an information session and tour.

Scholarships

Silver Pen Scholarship

The Silver Pen Writing Competition started in 2012 as a way to bridge the communication gap between high school seniors and our members.

American Public Service Scholarship 2025

This $1,000 scholarship award will be granted to two students who best exemplify what it means to be a public servant and answer the essay prompt to demonstrate their commitment to helping others.

Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship

A one-time award of $2,500, is awarded to two students who are accepted or enrolled in an accredited school of nursing. Applicants must be a DAR member, a descendant of a DAR member, or eligible for membership in DAR.

IBD High School Ethics Case Competition

Clemson University's Ina B. Durham High School Ethics Case Competition provides high school students with the opportunity to gain valuable critical thinking skills, networking opportunities, and cash prizes as they engage with ethical dilemmas first-hand.
