Course Description:

This course introduces students to the discipline of music, tracing the historical development of music with an emphasis on various musical styles, particularly Western Art music. Students will learn about the discipline of music by listening to and studying musical scores, passages, and performances. Students also will engage in class discussions and lectures; attend two live or virtual performances; read textbook excerpts, and form a writing analysis of the musical pieces or composers studied.
