Gannon Stockton scored 17 points, and the SJCS boys basketball team defeated host Chesnee 51-29 Tuesday night in a Region 2-2A game.

Ben Saunders added 15 points for the Knights, who improved to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the region.

Stockton scored 11 of his 17 points and Jalen Gibson scored 10 of his 13 points in the first half, which ended with St. Joe’s ahead 28-18. The Knights extended their lead to 38-25 after three quarters.

Josh Burns had five points and Davis Satterfield had one point for St. Joe’s.

The Knights had lost their previous two games, 47-33 Friday at Greer Middle College and 53-40 against Travelers Rest in a non-region game Saturday at Greenville High.

The JV boys lost at Chesnee 47-32.

Middle School Boys

The SJCS Middle School boys took off midway through the first quarter and went on to beat visiting Southside Christian 34-21 Tuesday night.

The Knights trailed 12-6 after the first few minutes and then went on a 9-0 run to take control of the game. They allowed only nine points the rest of the way.

Brayden Johnson led St. Joe’s with 10 points. Walker Jones had eight points, Josh Linebaugh seven, Jackson Eller and Henry Dryden four points apiece and Mac Winburn one point.

Middle School Girls

Ginny Anne Dumont scored 21 points, and the SJCS Middle School girls rolled to a 41-24 win over visiting Southside Christian.

Dumont had four 3-pointers for the Knights, who led 23-12 at halftime and 37-18 after three quarters.

Reese Prince and Caroline Mruz each had six points for St. Joe’s. Anna Pruett and Lily Del Collo had four points apiece.


The Middle School teams will play again Thursday at home against St. Mary’s, with the girls tipping off at 4:00 PM and the boys at 5:15.

On Friday at St. Joe’s, the JV (6:30 PM) and Varsity boys (8:00 PM) will host Chesnee.

Also Friday, the 9th Grade boys will play on the road against Greenville High (5:00 PM), and the 6th Grade boys will play on the road against Southside Christian (6:00 PM).
