SJCS HOLIDAY OUTREACH IN THE COMMUNITY

Nov 10, 2020

St. Joseph’s Catholic School is reaching out in various ways to serve the community this holiday season:

Christmas Community Outreach (through December 16)
Sponsored by the Drexel House, we are collecting donations to help two local organizations share Christ’s love this Christmas.

  • For the third year, we are doing a Winter Weather Wear Drive for the Church Without Walls. Coats, hats, gloves, etc. in both children and adult sizes are needed. All items must be NEW, and can be dropped off in the Front Office through December 16.
  • We are also partnering with the Knights of Columbus in its Christmas Food Baskets program, which delivers food to families in need. All money raised goes toward purchasing food.

Below are volunteer opportunities with both Church Without Walls and the Knights of Columbus. Please note, these events are sponsored by partners of St. Joseph’s and not the school itself. Please contact kmiros@sjcatholicschool.org to sign up or if you have any questions.

  • Sunday, December 13, Noon –  Help distribute meals and toys to families in need.  Volunteers are needed to assist with packaging and passing out items, as well as taking down tents and general clean up.  The event will be held at the Simpsonville Activity Building located at 310 West Curtis Street.

  • Friday, December 18, 9:00 AM – Volunteers are needed to help pack food boxes at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Mauldin Road.

  • Saturday, December 19, 9:00 AM – Volunteers are needed to deliver boxes to homes in the community (please note: students cannot volunteer for this without an adult. It’s a great family activity!)

  • Saturday, December 19, Noon – 4:00 PM – Help distribute winter coats, hats and gloves to children in need at both Berkley Pointe and Avalon Apartment Complexes (located next door to one another).  All items must be NEW!
