ROUNDUP: GIRLS GOLF TAKES 2ND; EMMA CURRAN MAKES ALL-REGION

The SJCS girls golf team shot 380 and finished as runner-up to Chesnee in the Region 2-2A Tournament at Links O’ Tryon on Wednesday. Chesnee won the region title with 301.

St. Joe’s senior Emma Curran shot 82 and finished sixth to make the All-Region team. Also for the Knights, senior Caleigh Noonan shot 85, sophomore Marett Cole 92 and eighth-grader Meghan Noonan 116.

The Knights will play in the Class 2A Upper State qualifier at Southern Oaks Golf Club in Easley on Monday.

Cross Country

The SJCS girls cross country team took fourth out of 11 teams and the boys took sixth out of 13 teams at Chapin’s Crooked Creek Recreational Park on Wednesday.

The St. Joe’s girls had three of the top 15 finishers, led by Caroline Linen, who placed fifth (out of 227 runners) in 19:07. Brigid Alvis was 12th in 20:09, and Lauren Kelly was 15th in 20:27.

Tristan McTigue led the SJCS boys by finishing 13th (out of 227 runners) in 17:01.

Middle School Football

Host Southside Christian scored a touchdown with 1:30 remaining and added the two-point conversion to defeat St. Joe’s 14-6 Wednesday.

The Knights (2-2) will return home next week, taking on Christ Church on Wednesday, October 21 at 6:00 PM.
