St. Joseph’s, missing its two best players because of spring break, put together solid rounds by four players to beat Greer Middle College 181-195 Monday at The Preserve at Verdae.
The Knights (8-2-1) were led by sophomore Ryan Gorman who shot a 3-over 38. Junior Greg Hazelhurst contributed a solid 40 while seventh-grader Joey Clary had a 49. Junior Robby Matlock shot 53 and sophomore Ryan McLear chipped in with a 55.
GMC was led by Jacob Richardson who shot a 40.
It’s the start of a busy week for the Knights, who play Region I-AA rivals Christ Church and Landrum Wednesday at the Chanticleer course of Greenville Country Club. Thursday, SJCS will play AAAAA school Riverside at Thornblade.
Before spring break, the Knights finished fifth out of 17 teams in the Tee-Off Classic in Ninety Six. Taking those results into account, the golf team has a record of 20-6-1.
