The Third Annual SJCS Military Appreciation Night took place on September 11, 2015, which was started three years ago by then-students Ben Dunphy (’14) and Stanley Bikulege (’14), continues to honor the dedication of the military and veterans who serve our country, especially those who come from our very own SJCS community.
Thank you to everyone who made the night memorable, fun, and poignant, starting with the SJCS football team who began this appreciation event with a day of service in early August, wrote letters to soldiers, and sold t-shirts to benefit the Travis Manion Foundation. During the program, band instructor Marjorie Malphrus and the Pep Band led the crowd through a series of patriotic songs while veterans walked onto the field to a standing ovation. SJCS Chaplain Father Jeremy Von Wodecki, who also serves as a military chaplain, led the crowd in a blessing and members of the football team walked memorial signs across the field in remembrance of family members and loved ones who served in the military. The Clemson Rangers were also on hand to perform the Soldier’s Cross.
