Take a Seat Campaign Update and Modified Stadium Plans
May 2010

Thank you to all who have responded and contributed to the Take a Seat Campaign. I am pleased to tell you that we have received 110 gifts to this campaign totaling $173,000. In addition, we expect a major gift of $50,000 in mid-May, for a total of $223,000. While this falls well short of the original goal of $550,000, it has forced us to reassess the scope of the project to build only what we can reasonable expect to pay for without adding debt.

The campaign initially sought to meet the seating needs of more fans at our games because of membership in the new high school league. After listening to parents and coaches over the past few weeks to discern what is essential, we asked the architect and builder to go back to their respective drawing boards to redesign the seating for the football/soccer stadium for 750 seats while eliminating the concession stand and press box and the baseball seating entirely from the project. After doing as requested, the new total cost of the project has been reduced to $280,000. This cost includes adding a second set of bleachers to the gym. While we still have a funding gap, we are confident that we can close and eliminate that gap before the close of the project.

Especially in times of economic flux and uncertainty, we need the faithful support of the private and corporate community to help us meet our needs and to ensure that our school stays strong and continues to thrive. If you have benefited from a Catholic education or appreciate the value of such an education, please consider how you might be able to help the school financially. Your donation will support our educational efforts in so many ways as we continue this important work in the education and faith-formation of our youth, the future generation of leaders in our Church and in our society.

Again, thank you to all who are making these projects possible this summer. I think you'll be pleased with the finished project by the start of the fall athletic season. Those wishing to help us close the funding gap may do so by contacting the Karen Miller in the Advancement Office or by calling me to discuss your gift.
