As the current Youth Governor of the state, SJCS junior Ishan Lal is required to encourage fellow high school students during this difficult time. Here is his message regarding the COVID-19 pandemic that he shared on his official Youth Governor Instagram:

My fellow high schoolers, my fellow South Carolinians, my fellow Americans, I hope that all of you are doing well in these unprecedented, dark days of our state’s, country’s and world’s history. I wanted to post this to tell you all how proud I am to be an American. Today, all of us are rightfully frightened and afraid regarding the Coronavirus pandemic spreading across our state. I can assure you that Governor McMaster and his team are doing everything in their power to make sure that every South Carolinian has the resources and tools to beat this virus.

Although all of us have no school and are subject to stay at home, let us not forget to continuously thank and pray for all the public servants who risk their lives every day, especially in these times, to provide hope, love and care for those who are suffering in this world. It will never fail to amaze me how wonderful and amazing our communities in South Carolina and across this country are. The love and support all of you bring are truly amazing, and I hope that you will continue to do so. To all of you I say to please stay indoors, take care of yourselves and reach out to those special people in your families and lives whom you love to remind them that you are there for them in these dark times.

The great American generations that have come before us have always managed to pull together when times are tough. We cannot be the exception. As an American, I feel honored and humbled to know that all of us, together, will get through this one step at a time. Thank you, God Bless You, and God Bless the United States of America.
