The SJCS varsity boys basketball team started slowly Tuesday night but came on strong and pulled away for a 33-18 victory over visiting Shannon Forest.
Ben Saunders scored eight of his 12 points in the second half for St. Joe’s, which outscored the Crusaders 20-9 after halftime.
Gannon Stockton and Daniel Watson each scored nine points for the Knights (3-1), who trailed 3-0 after the first quarter but led 13-9 by halftime.
Maddy Duwe scored 16 points and Emily Meade added 11 points, and the Knights rolled to a 61-4 victory.
Brittany Morris contributed eight points and Abby Seidel had six points for the Knights (3-1), who scored the first 20 points of the game.
Alex Gillespie scored 15 points and the Knights held on for a 33-30 victory over Shannon Forest to improve to 2-0.
Jack Murphy hit two free throws with 2.3 seconds left to make it 33-29 and help seal the win for St. Joe’s.
The Knights outscored Shannon Forest 22-2 in the second half and breezed to a 43-10 victory, evening their record at 1-1.
Salome Schmitt and Elaina Mulholland scored 10 points apiece to lead St. Joe’s. Clare McKinley added seven points, and Maria Hanson and Caroline Capelle each scored six points.
