The SJCS varsity girls tennis team defeated visiting Spartanburg Day 5-1 in a non-region match on Tuesday.

The Knights, 8-4 overall (3-1 in Region 1-2A), will host 5A Wade Hampton Monday at 4:45 PM.

JV Girls Tennis

The SJCS JV girls tennis team won on the road against Spartanburg Day Tuesday, 4-2.

Meredith Wiper, Alexa San and Pryce Saad won their singles matches in straight sets for the Knights, and Maggie Olewiler and Mary Mayken Reed won their doubles match.

The Knights will play their final match Thursday at Christ Church.

Varsity Volleyball

St. Joseph’s swept past Blacksburg 3-0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-14) to improve to 23-12 overall and remain in first place in Region 1-2A with a 12-1 record.

Sophomore Maggie Patterson led the way with 11 kills (hitting .563), five digs and five aces. Sophomore Kimmie Thompson had a team-high 28 assists, and senior libero Elizabeth Tamura led the team with 10 digs and six aces.

Also for the Knights, freshman Emily Normand had eight kills and two blocks, and sophomore Maja Hawthorne had six kills (hitting .462), one block and three aces.

The team had 32 digs and 18 aces.

The Knights will host Christ Church on Thursday.
